THE COSTS OF CARING: THE IMPACT OF COMPASSION FATIGUE & VICARIOUS TRAUMA ON THE PROFESSIONAL HELPER

Session participants will engage in discussion and activities aimed at discovering the causes of costs of stress, the definition and symptoms of compassion fatigue (the costs of caring), and methods to prevent or address these symptoms.

Kathy Shelek-Furbee, MSW, ASCW, LCSW, Social Work Department Chair at Bethany College will present.

The program will begin at noon with sign-in beginning at 11:30 am and will run until 3:15 pm. 

Three Continuing Education Credit hours will be available for WV Social Workers (Bethany College 490052) and WV Registered Nurses (Altenheim Resource & Referral WV BRN 2003 0431).  The fee for the workshop is $15.00.
