ETHICS IN END OF LIFE CARE

October 03, 2017

James Keresztury, ACSW, Director of the Mountains of Hope Cancer Coalition at the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center in Morgantown, will be our guest presenter.

The workshop will be presented on Tuesday, October 3 from 9am - 11am with registration at 8:30am.  Registration is due by September 29, 2017.

The workshop will explore the ethical challenges that impact the practice of social work in end-of-life care.  Ethical issues near the end of life often arise becasue of concerns about how much and what kind of care is appropriate for someone with a limited life expectancy.  Many of these conflicts can be avoided by clarifying who makes the difficult decisions to limit care and by advance care planning.  This workshop will cover topics of advance care planning, conducting an ethics consultation, ethical decision-making, and other issues that impact care for
West Virginians facing the end of life.

The workshop will offer 2 continuing education credits for WV social workers through Bethany College (490052) and will be held at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 118 Grant Street, Moundsville WV  26041.  The fee is $10.00 and checks may be made payable to Altenheim Resource & Referral Center, and mailed to Ann Koegler, Altenheim Resource & Referral Services, 1387 National Road, Wheeling WV  26003.

The workshop is being co-sponsored by Altmeyer Funeral Home, Bethany College and Altenheim Resource & Referral Services.
