Are you ready for Medicare Open Enrollment?
Posted: September 3, 2025, 8:56AMMedicare Open Enrollment runs from October 15 to December 7th. At this time, Medicare beneficiaries can change Medicare Advantage Plans, drop their Medicare Advantage Plan and return to original Medicare, or enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan. Beneficiaries can also change their Part D Prescription Drug Plans. The changes take effect in January, 2026.
Review your Annual Notice of Coverage. What changes have taken place? Does the plan still meet your needs? Has your health care provider changed? Have your medications changed? What are your options?
The plan that works for your spouse, neighbor, or the lady at the grocery store may not be the best fit for your health care needs. Explore your options.
Are you just "approaching Medicare"? Who are your health care providers? What would better suit your needs - Original Medicare with a Supplement and a Part D Prescription plan or a Medicare Advantage plan that is all-inclusive?
You can get assistance from your State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP).
You can also call 1 800 MEDICARE for assistance or talk to your Medicare insurance broker. You can compare health care and prescription drug plans on the Medicare website.
