Beware of Holiday Scams and Traps!
Posted: December 8, 2025, 9:20AMTis the season for scammers to try to get our personal information and / or our money!
Watch out for these scams during the holiday season:
Delivery scams - Did you get a text or email that there may be a problem with your delivery? Don't click on the link or call that number! Contact the delivery business directly.
Charity scams - It's a big season for fundraising. Don't be pressured to donate immediately. Check out the charity on charity checker websites such as Charity Navigator or GuideStar.
Porch pirates - Unscrupulous people who steal your deliveries are called porch pirates. Make sure someone will be home to receive the package or direct the delivery to a neighbor. Video surveillance or video doorbells may deter some criminals.
Watch your purse or backpack. Thieves can easily grab these items and take off.
Make sure to hide packages and lock your car. Watch the spaces around your car and be aware of your surroundings.
Pay attention to bills and to charges on credit cards.
Have a safe holiday season!
Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Happy Kwanzaa! Happy Holidays!
