Do You Know About County Senior Centers?

Many older adults are unaware of the scope of services and programs available at their county senior center, and caregivers often lack knowledge of how the center can assist with their caregiving tasks. 

Senior centers are found nationwide.  They receive funding from federal, state, and local sources, and donations also provide a source of revenue.  Services may include congregate and home-delivered meal programs, light housekeeping programs, personal care programs, caregiver programs, transportation, volunteer opportunities, activities, education programs, and information & assistance.  Some senior centers offer outings.  Some provide access to benefit programs.  

And - although senior centers are alike in many ways, each one is unique.  Different programs are offered.  Different activities are offered.  Menus differ.  Buildings vary in age and size.  But - The common factor with senior centers is that they connect older adults to services that can help them remain independent and offer opportunities for socialization - an important factor for our mental health and over-all well-being!
