Posted: June 16, 2026, 9:40AMIt's summer. Well....almost. The official start of summer is June 21st but we are already seeing warm temperatures with high humidity, stormy weather, and insects. Lots of insects.
Be attentive to ticks this summer season. The CDC reports that ER visits for tick bites are running high this year. Make sure to look for ticks after you've been hiking, gardening, landscaping - doing any outdoor activities. Make sure to "check your crevices". Contact your healthcare provider with questions. Know the symptoms!
Mosquitoes are another danger of summer. Did you know that mosquitoes are considered the "world's deadliest creature"? Mosquitoes are responsible for the spread of many diseases including malaria and dengue feaver. Take care to avoid bites! Drain any standing water. Wear insect repellent to ward off mosquitoes. Take steps to prevent mosquito bites!
Be careful when you are out in the sun. Wear sunscreen. Avoid the hottest parts of the day. Drink plenty of fluids. Wear a hat. Sunglasses help protect your eyes.
We're blessed to have another summer to enjoy with friends and family. Take care of yourself!
