Take Care to Give Care: National Family Caregivers Month

Posted: November 7, 2016, 12:44PM

November 2016 has been designated as National Family Caregivers Month.  This year's theme - Take Care to Give Care - focuses on the rule of caring for others:  take care of yourself first.  Caregiving can be physically and emotionally draining.  The stress of caregiving leads to a higher risk of health problems and a higher risk of mortality for caregivers.  We have over 90 million caregivers in the United States, and those caregivers need to pay attention to their own physical and mental health.  Proper nutrition and adequate rest are other keys to a caregiver's well-being.

We need to remember to rest, recharge and take a breather!  Take care of yourself so you can be as good a caregiver tomorrow as you were today!
